Non-profit FAQ

ANY NONPROFIT CAN PARTICIPATE

#GivingTuesdayCLE is Cleveland’s local response to the global Giving Tuesday movement — a citywide celebration of generosity and volunteerism, bringing attention and support to local nonprofits while encouraging donors to “Give Where You Live!”

#GivingTuesdayCLE 2019 officially kicks off on Tuesday, November 19 and continues through 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.

Always celebrated on the Tuesday following U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, Giving Tuesday is fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Millions of people across the globe are inspired to show up and give back to causes and issues that matter to them. Our collective goal is to create a massive wave of generosity that lasts throughout the year and touches every person on the planet.

When GivingTuesday launched in 2012, its founders believed that technology and social media could be used to make generosity go viral; that people fundamentally want to give and to talk about giving; and that the social sector had the capacity to show more innovative leadership, creativity, and collaboration. In just seven years, GivingTuesday has radically changed how we think about generosity and showed just how much power communities everywhere have to create change.

Eligible nonprofit partners must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered or providing services in the greater Cleveland, Ohio area. Fiscal partnerships and fiscal sponsor agreements are acceptable if documentation is provided via email to hello@wishcleveland.com.

#GivingTuesdayCLE is an exciting way to reach new supporters and boost your other year-end fundraising activities. This unique opportunity provides the type of visibility and impact that only a city-wide effort can generate. To make the most of our collaboration, your organization should ensure that your profile is up-to-date on the site well ahead of #GivingTuesdayCLE and is custom-branded to tell your story. All nonprofit partners are invited to personalize and use any of the #GivingTuesday campaign materials (logos, video, etc.) which can be downloaded here. Our official partners at Good Cause Creative are also offering a FREE, professional edit of your “Giving Tuesday Story.”

Our official partner Big River has donated the use of its online giving platform for nonprofits participating in #GivingTuesdayCLE. There is a small merchant processing fee (3.7% + $.20) associated with all donations. Donors are given the option to cover the fees, and a majority of them do. If your donors cover the processing fees, 100% of their online charitable gift will go to your organization. Proceeds from the sale of a #GivingTuesdayCLE GOOD hat ($25 each) made on your campaign page will result in a $15.25 donation to your organization. Each hat costs $8.60 to manufacture with a merchant processing fee of $1.15 per purchase.

Registration for #GivingTuesdayCLE will close November 15, 2019.
