A Place 4 Me with #GivingTuesdayCle
A Place 4 Me believes that every young person deserve a place to call home. Yet in 2018, 669 young adults ages 18 to 24 experienced homelessness in Cuyahoga County. Our mission is to end and prevent youth and young adult homelessness in our community.
A Place 4 Me is a collective impact, systems-change initiative, led by YWCA Greater Cleveland. To improve the youth crisis response system, we partner with young people who have experienced it, use a racial equity lens, and are data-driven.
In addition to systems-change, A Place 4 Me helps young adults navigate their resources and fills gaps in the system. This campaign will support our Dignity Fund and our Second Chance Fund. The Dignity Fund ensures that the concrete needs of youth are met when they exit homelessness. It allows us to provide a starter kit of household items and furniture to make their new apartments feel like homes. It provides the dignity of a bed to sleep on and items to cook with. The Second Chance Fund helps us to prevent homelessness when young people need just a little financial assistance to keep their housing - the kind of thing many young adults could ask their parents for - such as when facing the choice between fixing a car to get to work or paying rent. The Second Chance Fund also enables us to help youth with the fees associated with applying to apartments to exit homelessness.
•$5 provides snacks when youth experiencing homelessness visit our office
•$25 - $50 covers a young person's housing application fee
•$180 allows a young person to access a set of furniture
•$400 provides a complete kit of household items
•$500 provides emergency assistance for things such as a car repair or fees to return to college
Thank you for helping young adults exit homelessness!
