WISH CLEVELAND — WISH Cleveland is an online news source for changemakers, social justice seekers and idealists in Northeast Ohio. We also publish the WISH Weekly newsletter celebrating people and organizations making a difference in our community.
GREATER CLEVELAND COMMUNITY SHARES — Founded in 1984, Community Shares is Cleveland’s only workplace giving federation with a focus on social justice. They are official partners and fiscal agents of the #GivingTuesdayCLE campaign and the original voice of “together we can do more” in northeast Ohio.
AMIS, INC. (Americans Making Immigrants Safe) — Supporters of AMIS, Inc. inspire hope and contribute to the well-being of immigrants and families as they seek legal status in the United States through financial resources for legal services, education, basic living expenses, and self-sufficiency.
B. RILEY SOBER HOUSE — An LGBTQ+ sober living facility that provides temporary, safe, affirming, recovery-orientated living space for individuals who are disproportionately affected by abuse, homelessness, and stigma.
BIRTHING BEAUTIFUL COMMUNITIES — A village of birth workers or doulas who provide social support to pregnant women at risk for infant mortality during the perinatal period. Their mission is to address and improve the systemic and community structures that lead to poor birth outcomes for African American families through culture, education, advocacy, support and engagement (CEASE). Services and support also provided to fathers.
CLEVELAND SEWS — Originally a project of social enterprise Cosmic Bobbins. Cleveland Sews is a wealth-building, workforce-development and sewing collaborative stitching together Cuyahoga County’s social fabric by creating jobs, building hope and increasing stability in communities that have faced hardship due to racial and economic inequities.
FAIR HOUSING — Committed to protecting and expanding fair housing rights, eliminating housing discrimination, and promoting integrated communities through research, education, legal advocacy, and enforcement.
FOSTERING HOPE — Every child deserves to feel joy. Fostering Hope provides joyful experiences and programs to children whose lives are directly impacted by foster care helping them discover their sense of self through evidence-based programs, holiday events, birthday parties and the Journey Bags luggage program.
HAVEN HOME — Once a convent, then a remote site for Family Promise of Greater Cleveland, and now an emergency overflow shelter operating in a collaboration with several partner agencies dedicated to providing housing options for women and children experiencing homelessness.
LITERACY IN THE HOOD — Every child. Every parent. Every day. Literacy in the Hood encourages children, parents and caregivers to create a culture in which reading, writing, thinking, and speaking serve as a foundation for lifelong learning.
METANOIA PROJECT — What started with a group of parishioners at St. Malachai church who said, “Our neighbors are cold, and we have warm space,” eventually became a dependable, winter emergency shelter for people experiencing chronic homelessness in Cleveland. Services, which include personal care items and meals, are geared toward “hardcore” clients who are unwilling/unable to access traditional shelters.
NORTHEAST OHIO COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS — People who do not have stable housing shouldn’t have to give up their basic human rights. As advocates and allies, NEOCH approaches the issue of homelessness holistically through: organizing and empowering, educating and advocating, and creating nurturing environments.
MOTOGO — Bringing back shop class! This mobile shop class founded by local teachers brings the generations of skill-building once learned in our grandfathers’ garages into the classroom. Through an industrial arts curriculum centered on a getting-your-hands-dirty application, students learn proper tool usage, measurement, calculations, and small engine operation and maintenance.
ROLLING BUCKEYEZ FOUNDATION — By putting a new “Pop Up” spin on the timeless, family-friendly sport of roller skating, Rolling Buckeyez provides social and recreational activities to children and adults, strengthening family and community bonds while addressing health and wellness.
NEIGHBORHOOD PETS OUTREACH & RESOURCE CENTER — Please don’t forget the animals! Clients of Neighborhood Pets consider their pets family, and “we believe that they have a right to affordable pet care in order to provide a good quality of life for their pets.” With the help of volunteer veterinarians, they offer affordable and accessible basic wellness care, spay/neuter, supplies, education, and resources to low-income families.
UPCYCLE PARTS SHOP — Less waste. More art. Upcycle Parts Shop is the leader in sustainable art and craft supplies in Cleveland. We are a non-profit dedicated to provoking creativity and promoting community through reuse.
